Subject: Fw: Luxembourg contact re. registered letter number RR224884947IE Dear
        Ms. Bergin,
I received a letter yesterday (through the normal post) from Mr. Helmut Betz
(Principal Administrator) on behalf of the Secretary-General in Luxembourg.
Mr. Betz acknowledges receipt of my letter dated 12.08.2001 - which I assume is
the e-mail letter dated August 12th 2001 that now appears on the following www page:
        http://homepage.eircom.net/~williamfinnerty/eu-help.htm
Although the above mentioned acknowledgement of receipt now enables me to make progress
(and I am very grateful for this), I still do not know what happened to the printed copy
of the e-mail I sent through the registered post on August 13th 2001 (i.e. registered
letter number RR224884947IE - which has a scanned copy at the above www page).  Mr.
Betz has made no reference at all to it.
For various reasons I would still like to know if the Post Office can tell me
if registered letter RR224884947IE was successfully delivered in Luxembourg; and
I would like to stress that this is now largely because it seems very likely to me that I
will need to send one or two more registered letters to the same address (in connection
with local heritage and environmental matters): and as I trust all concerned will
understand, I do not wish (if at all possible) to have to repeat the kind of
avoidable (as I see it) long drawn out string of correspondence included below.
I am SELF-EMPLOYED; and very conscious of the fact that of all those
involved, I am probably the only one who is not receiving regular payments for the
time being spent in trying to deal with the various kinds of ongoing and
extremely deep-rooted problems in question: just SOME
of which are related on the following page:
        http://homepage.eircom.net/~williamfinnerty/duchas.htm
I look forward to hearing from you, and thank you again for your help in the past.
        Sincerely,
        Mr. William Finnerty.

        Dear Ms. Bergin,
Thank you for your e-mail of last Friday.
I note that you are doing all you can to find out what happened to Registered letter
number RR224884947IE, and I am very grateful to you for that.
I look forward to hearing from you when you receive a reply from the postal authorities
        in Luxembourg .
If (in the meantime) I receive any definite information from the European Union people
in Luxembourg regarding the letter, I will of course send an e-mail to you to let you
        know.
        Sincerely,
        William Finnerty.

        Dear Mr Finnerty
Thank you for taking the time to
e-mail us. I would like to offer my sincere apologies for not replying to you sooner. I
have sent a request to the postal authorities in Luxembourg asking that they confirm
either that the item in question has been delivered, or that it has been returned to
Ireland. I have sent two requests both by fax and by registered letter. I am currently
awaiting a reply. As soon as I receive any information I will immediately contact you.
        Again please accept my apologies
for the delay in replying to you. If I can be of any further assistance please do not
        hesitate to contact me.
        Yours sincerely

        Dear Rose,
Thank you for your e-mail of August 29th 2001, and for sending my earlier e-mail
(reproduced below) to the right people at the Post Office.
Please note though that I STILL have not
heard anything from anybody at the Post Office (or at the European Parliament) regarding
the satisfactory delivery (or otherwise) of registered letter number RR224884947IE; and
that consequently I still do not know what has happened to this letter?
While I realise (and accept) that the Post Office would not have any direct
responsibility connected with the protection of ancient heritage monuments, I nevertheless
wish to point out that the missing (or possibly undelivered?) registered letter in
question has to do with such matters; and, assuming that the site is still fully intact,
time MIGHT now be running out for the particular monument which appears on the first
photograph at the Internet www page address provided immediately below:
        http://homepage.eircom.net/~williamfinnerty/esb-proj.htm
I look forward to hearing from somebody at the Post Office regarding the present
whereabouts of registered letter number RR224884947IE (as soon as is reasonably possible
        please).
        Sincerely,
        Mr. William Finnerty.

        Dear Sir or Madam,
I sent an e-mail to you last Monday and so far I have not received any reply at all -
which is beginning to look a little strange to me.
A copy of the above mentioned e-mail is reproduced further down this page.
Basically, I need to know if the registered letter I posted on August 13th 2001
has been successfully delivered to the destination address I sent it to (in Luxembourg)
        ???
In case there might be something wrong with the e-mail address I used last Monday
(August 27th 2001), I am copying this to some other Post Office e-mail addresses which
        appear on your web site.
I look forward to hearing from you.
        Sincerely,
        Mr. William Finnerty.

        Dear Sir or Madam,
I have used your tracking system to trace a registered letter I posted on August 13th
        2001 in Ballinasloe.
The results I got are as shown below; and unfortunately they give no indication of
what happened after the letter was dispatched from Dublin.
The full destination address on the letter was:

        European Parliament
        Members' Activities Division
        L-2929 LUXEMBOURG
Basically, I need to know if the letter in question was successfully delivered to the
        above address in Luxembourg.
I look forward to hearing from you regarding the above matter.
        Sincerely,
        Mr William Finnerty.

        PS:
Assuming you have easy access to Internet pages, there is additional information
concerning the above letter at the www page address provided at the end of this
paragraph; and, as you will see on the scanned copy of the letter at the end of the
Internet page, I specifically requested a written acknowledgement of receipt.
Allowing for the fact that I have not received any response at all (of any kind) to
date, I am beginning to wonder if the registered letter in question (and the associated
e-mails) were ever received by the European Parliament ?
